Curtis Farris Jr. was born and raised in Lansing, MI. He graduated from Everett high school in 1985 and attended Ferris State University on a full-ride football scholarship. In 1987, Curtis joined the Marine Corps Reserve and was placed on active duty during Desert Storm and deployed overseas to Japan/Philippines. In 1990, he earned an associate’s degree in automotive service and a bachelor’s degree in applied science from FSU.

After returning home and completing his college degrees, Curtis explored various roles in the automotive industry, including working in sales at Spartan Toyota and serving as Production Supervisor at Livonia Ford Transmission. He even delivered pizzas for Domino’s during this time. However, a poor tint job on his car led him to take matters into his own hands by replacing it himself. A moment that ignited his passion and set the foundation for what would become A Touch of Tint.
